Join us for a special evening celebrating the life and work of Hugh Townley and reflecting on the remarkable generation of artists shaped by the opportunities afforded through the GI Bill.
This intimate gathering will feature remarks by John R. Stomberg, who will explore the profound impact of the GI Bill on American artists following World War II and its role in fostering a generation of creative voices that transformed the cultural landscape of the United States.
Through conversation, stories, and selected works from the exhibition, the evening will consider Townley's place within this larger history and the enduring influence of educational access on American art.
As Grand Finale marks the closing chapter of BigTown Gallery's stewardship of the Townley Estate, guests will also have an opportunity to learn more about the exhibition and the legacy of the artist's work as stewardship returns to the family
