What you can expect at The Stable Inn
Like minded adventurers. First timers and regulars. The odd dog on the 1st floor where they’re allowed. We’ve got the bed but you make the breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You’ll find the makings for a good cup of tea or coffee anytime of day. Make a simple breakfast on the 2nd floor or a full-on gourmet extravaganza with your own great talents on the 1st floor. The kitchens are shared, so are all the common areas, in the best communal way. We think it’s great for making new friends if that’s what you’re into.
Show off your latest GO-Pro footage, dial in your Netflix in our downstairs screen room and while you’re making dinner, relax to the sounds of some old-school vinyl. Brush up on your poetry, art history or adventure research in our mini-libraries, and have a nice time day-dreaming in our sunny perch watching small town life in motion.
Use the grill in the garden, have yourself a picnic, or wait for one of our wood fired pizza nights under our backyard pavilion (check the calendar for dates). Check out the Rochester website for more information about the town. You’re right downtown and within walking distance to everything, including the trails.
Our inn was renovated from an 1840’s structure. There are still elements of old such as low ceilings and rolling floors that we think you’ll find as cozy as we do.

We are just as committed as Vermont to it’s energy resilient future and worked closely with Efficiency Vermont on our project. They are awesome!
When you stay at the Stable your heat and hot water comes from our micro-district pellet heating system that runs on wood by-products harvested within 100 miles that was installed by the very capable Lyme Green Heat
Similarly, the electricity is powered by solar panels on the roof thanks to Same Sun of Vermont
HVAC with Heat Pumps delivering cooling in the summer and heat in the shoulder season
We like to nerd out on this a bunch so be careful about getting into it with us, the conversation might go on a while.

Oh yes, well, it’s under redevelopment and getting ready to blossom into more amenities for your next visit…
The small building closest to the inn, which currently houses the micro-district pellet heating system that heats the radiators and hot-water in the inn will also house a petite trattoria in the image of one fondly remembered in the mountains of Sardinia, Italy in the mid-80s. There you slid onto a bench from the front door immediately seating you at long farm table where you were offered something to drink and whatever was being served — something seasonal, simple, affordable and local. That day it was the cooks own bread, cheese, pasta and wine - the kind you can only get from hands with a life-time of growing food, preserving it and cooking it too.
The garage building will help expand the bike shop’s rental offering so that we’ll be able to rent and store more bikes to put more adventurers on the gaps or on our rugged back-country trails, e-assisted or not.
